John Jude Palencar has painted book covers and illustrated the works of Stephen King, J.R.R. Tolkien, H.P. Lovecraft, Christopher Paolini, and many others. He is probably best known for his covers to the fantasy movels of Christopher Paolini, author of ERAGON and ELDEST. The best of these illsutrations are included in this volume. Origins is the first collection of Palencar's work.

John Jude Palencar has painted covers for books by Stephen King, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles de Lint, H.P. Lovecraft, Christopher Paolini, Jacqueline Carey, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and many others. His editorial clients include PSYCHOLOGY TODAY, TIME, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, and MODERN MEDICINE, among many others. Andrews McMeel published a popular calendar featuring his paintings for 2006 and Barnes and Noble will be releasing a calendar for 2007. Palencar has received many honors—including awards from Spectrum and the Society of Illustrators—and his work resides in many galleries and private collections.
